SSVM School of Excellence,Coimbatore celebrated its 8th Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit, marking the inauguration of its new Sports Arena. The event, themed “Save Our Planet – Play for the Planet, Protect Our Future,” highlighted the importance of sports, discipline, and environmental responsibility.
The celebrations began with a ceremonial welcome to the Chief Guest, Thiru R Vasantharaj, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, followed by a prayer song, welcome address, and a vibrant classical dance. The Chief Guest was felicitated by Dr. Manimekalai Mohan, Correspondent and Managing Trustee, and Shri Mohan Doss, Secretary.
The flag hoisting ceremony and an impressive March Past by the Student Council, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls, School Band, and the four houses showcased discipline, unity, and leadership. The Sports Torch was lit by the Chief Guest and carried by the school’s outstanding athletes before the Sports Meet was officially declared open.
Students captivated the audience with synchronized drill displays, energetic fitness challenges, relay races, and a contemporary dance highlighting the importance of water conservation. Parents also enthusiastically participated in special games, adding excitement to the event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest encouraged students to pursue excellence through dedication, discipline, and perseverance. The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, honouring individual champions, special award winners, and the Overall Championship House.
The celebration ended with the Flag Retreat and Vote of Thanks and leaving everyone inspired by the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and environmental consciousness.
